This is a practical website policy draft for Ninth Theory MXF Viewer. It should be reviewed before public launch, especially before accepting client uploads, payments, analytics, or production Google/Dropbox access.
1. What is Ninth Theory MXF Viewer?
It is a browser based media utility for uploading or importing MXF video files and generating browser playable previews.
2. Does it change my original MXF file?
No. The intended workflow keeps the original source file untouched and creates separate preview files.
3. Why do MXF files need converting?
Most browsers do not play professional MXF camera files directly, so the app generates preview formats such as MP4 or HLS.
4. Can it import from Google Drive?
Yes. The current Google Drive integration can connect with read-only access, list MXF files, show folder paths, and import a selected file.
5. Can it import from Dropbox?
Dropbox is planned next. The cloud browser layout is already designed so Dropbox can use the same style of folder and file browser.
6. Can I share previews with clients?
Yes. The app includes password protected review links for generated previews. Production review links should later include expiry and stronger access controls.
7. Can I download the converted preview?
Yes. When the preview is ready, the app provides an MP4 preview download.
8. Can I rotate sideways footage?
Yes. The viewer includes rotation options before generating the preview.
9. Can I choose preview quality?
Yes. The current options include 540p, 720p, and 1080p preview generation.
10. Is this ready for public production?
It is currently a strong local MVP. A production version should add user accounts, encrypted token storage, cloud storage, a dedicated FFmpeg worker, retention rules, and signed URLs.
